Safeco Field
Safeco Field is home to the Seattle
Mariners baseball team, whose season runs from April through the end of
September. Complete with a retractable roof and views of Seattle and Puget
Sound (especially on a rainy, spring afternoon), Safeco field is a cool
place to watch a baseball game. Safeco Field is located just south of
downtown Seattle and directly south of Qwest Field and Event Center. The
Safeco Field ballpark is very family friendly with a number of amenities
for the casual fan and diehard alike. Admission is definitely affordable
as prices for tickets run from $7 on up. There are few non-alcoholic seat
sections in the stadium provided specifically for families or those who
want a more family friendly environment. Seattle Mariners crowds, for the
most part, are quite polite and respectful. There is also a playground and
children's area out beyond the center field wall, so if you have kids in
the group and they are getting restless, there is a place for them to burn
some energy. As is the case with the Qwest Field football stadium, Safeco
Field has ample parking for those driving to the Safeco Field stadium.
There is also an efficient transit service that runs buses directly to the
stadium from various park & ride lots in the Greater Seattle area. If you
are staying downtown, walking is a great option as Safeco Field is close
many downtown hotels. If you're not much of a baseball fan but would like
to check out the ballpark anyway, tours are offered during the midday both
during the season and the off-season.
