Fans of aviation history aren’t the only
ones that will enjoy the Museum of Flight (although, they might enjoy it
the most.) Located just minutes south of downtown Seattle, the Museum Of
Flight provides a thrilling way to learn about the aviation history that
everyone will love. Seattle’s Museum of Flight has the largest collection
of aerial artifacts on the west coast. Here, you’ll get the chance to look
at over fifty planes that are in near perfect condition. In the Great
Gallery (an overwhelmingly huge room,) you’ll see giant planes hanging in
midair in the simulation of flight, one weighing over nine tons.
The Seattle Museum Of Flight begins with the earliest stages of flight, and takes you up
into space travel. The displays are anything but dull: the Museum of
Flight is known
for its hands on approach. Exhibits allow you to personally experience
what it would be like to be in the cockpit of a jet plane, or how it would
feel to fly Top Gun style with the help of a motion simulator. You can
practice docking with the Hubble Space Telescope, or experience life
without gravity.
You can learn all about the history of Air Force One, and actually see the
first plane ever used for that honor. The Children’s wing of the Museum of
Flight is
fantastic, and both kids and adults will enjoy “learning to fly” using the
tools provided. For the devout fans of airplanes, the Museum of Flight also has the
west coast’s only British Concorde on display, which you can see from very
up close. The “Personal Courage Wing” is devoted to the memory of air
fighters involved in World War I and II, and is a touching and interesting
collection. The Seattle Museum Of Flight is a fascinating and unique Seattle attraction that
everyone will enjoy.
