Washington State Ferry
Pier 52
Seattle
Washington
Looking to get out of the Seattle for a bit and visit some more of the great
outdoors? The Washington State Ferry provides service from Alaskan Way on
Seattle's Waterfront out to Bainbridge Island, Vashon Island and Bremerton.
If you're looking to just get out on the water and get a different view of
the Puget Sound and Seattle, the Bainbridge Ferry is great option. The trip
only takes 35 minutes and provides some of the most spectacular views of
Seattle. The fare for passengers who walk on the ferry is only $4. Want to
take a bike? It's only a dollar more and a bike makes for a fun
afternoon exploring Bainbridge Island and the little town of Winslow, which
has little shops and restaurants. The ferry to Bainbridge Island leaves from
Pier 52. If you are up for a more extensive tour of the Olympic Peninsula
and have a vehicle, take the Bremerton Ferry, which is about an hour's ride
from downtown Seattle. The price is $13.50 for car and driver and only $4
for each additional passenger. Bremerton is a nice drop-off point for those
wanting to get out and explore the peninsula, Olympic Mountains and the rest
of the Puget Sound. If you want to go south, check out Vashon Island. This mostly
rural community is a nice place to check out if you have a free afternoon.
Ferry schedules are available online, by phone or the concierge desk at your
hotel.
