Woodlawn Park Zoo 5500 Phinney Ave N Seattle Washington 206-684-4800
Seattle’s Woodlawn Park Zoo is located just minutes north
of downtown Seattle, in the Phinney Ridge neighborhood. Woodlawn Park Zoo
and the park that surrounds it are great places to take a family. Kids of
all ages to enjoy the award winning exhibits and the exotic animals, many
of which are rare, or not native to the United States. Throughout the day,
you can catch various demonstrations or hear fascinating talks given by
one of the many Woodlawn Park Zoo experts working for this internationally
famous zoo. One of the reasons that the Woodlawn Park Zoo is well
known worldwide is for the fact that it cares for so many different
varieties of animal and plant life. There are more than 300 animal
species, which come from all over the world. At Woodlawn Park Zoo
you’ll find pythons, gorillas, lions, monkeys, elephants, hyenas, and
much, much more. But animals aren’t all that Woodlawn Park Zoo is known
for: the botanical gardens contain more than 1,000 plant specimens. The
Woodlawn Park Zoo exhibits have received awards for their attention to conservationalist ideals, and for allowing the animals to live in a manner
that closely resembles their natural habitat. Everything at Woodlawn
Park Zoo is carefully planned to keep the animals as healthy as possible,
from the food they eat, to the plant life allowed to grow inside the pens.
Because the Woodlawn Park Zoo is fairly large, the animals are allowed
much more individual space than you might find at other zoos. It can
take a better part of the day to see all of the attractions of Woodlawn
Park Zoo. But don’t worry, the zoo is set up in such a way that you can
follow trails to easily to each exhibit. And if you get tired, there is a
restaurant located in a central location, as well as many vendors that
sell cool drinks, or for Seattle residents, a hot cup of coffee.
